Confirmation
We are excited to help prepare your teen for the sacrament of Confirmation. This is can be a life-changing moment for all. It is our hope that your child will embrace the gifts and blessings received at Confirmation and come to have a deep and lifelong love for Christ. We pray they hear the call to share their gifts and faith with others as they journey in life.
In preparation for the sacrament, we ask you to help guide them through some of the steps needed: -
Choose an eligible sponsor
DUE: January 11, 2026 The sponsor must get a letter from the parish they attend, stating that they are eligible to be a sponsor for confirmation.
Sponsor Form
Who is eligible to be a sponsor?- A Catholic who has received all three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
- Participates weekly in Sunday Mass
- If married, their marriage is recognized by the Catholic Church
- At least 16 years old (the pastor may grant exceptions)
- Not the parent or step-parent of the candidate
It is important for the candidate to have a connection with their sponsor. Ideally, this relationship between the candidate and the sponsor would be a lifelong relationship guiding them on their faith journey. -
Choose a confirmation saint
DUE: February 8, 2026 The candidate should choose a saint that is meaningful to them.Consider hobbies and interests, e.g. St. Carlo Acutis is known for using the internet, St. George is the patron saint of Boy Scouts, St. Cecilia is the patron saint of music, St. Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes.Consider your name or birth date, the saint whose feast day is on your birthday. -

Letter to the bishop
DUE: March 15, 2026 The candidate should include in the letter answers to these questions:- What has been your faith journey so far? What has been the most significant event or person in your life that has brought you to faith in Christ?
- What are your daily/weekly habits of prayer?
- How has your service to others affected you? Did you get something out of it?
- Have you done any retreats so far? What was your experience?
- Who are the friends and other people you surround yourself with in your life? Do they help you to live and grow in your faith?
- Why did you choose your confirmation sponsor?
- Why did you choose your confirmation saint?
- Why do you want to be confirmed?

Service
DUE: April 11, 2026 We encourage candidates to complete 15 hours of service.
(We can help keep track of it, in case it is needed later for high school.)There will be many opportunities to serve in and around the parish community:- Parish clean-up day: October 11, 2025 between 8:45am and 1:00pm
- Be an altar server at Mass
- Sing in the choir at Mass
- Help at the Food Pantry on our designated days
- Help set up for Safe Nights on December 7, 2025
- Make a meal for Safe Nights the week of December 7 to 13
- Christmas caroling with the youth on December 21, 2025
- Help with Mass is the Class
- Participate in Christmas in April (must be accompanied by parents)
These are just some of the possibilities. We will keep you posted throughout the year as service opportunities arise. -
RetreatsParticipation in the retreats is mandatory.BOYS ONLY -- September 21, 2025 from 3pm to 7pm in the FLCGIRLS ONLY -- October 5, 2025 from 3pm to 7pm in the FLCALL -- March 6 and 7, 2026 (time and location TBD)

Interview with Fr. JohnFr. John will conduct an individual interview with each candidate, prior to confirmation. The purpose of the interview is to assess their spiritual growth and readiness to receive the sacrament. He will ask questions such as the ones in the prompt for the letter to the bishop (see above).
